The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) continues to monitor an active Tropical Wave in the Central Tropical Atlantic located 550 km east of the Windward islands. 

As at 2 pm, Friday 14^th August 2026, the system is moving into an increasingly unfavourable environment for development, and it now has a very low chance (10%) of developing into a Tropical Depression before reaching the Windward islands. Regardless of development, this system is forecast  to affect the Windward islands from Friday night into Saturday, with the potential heavy rainfall and gusty winds. The most impactful weather is expected to favour Barbados and the Northern Windward islands. 

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO.

The TTMS continues to monitor this Tropical Wave and will issue the relevant weather alert at the appropriate time, with further details on the expected onset of impactful weather. This will be the final Official Statement on this system in this format.
