Active Tropical Wave in Central Tropical Atlantic

The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has been monitoring an active Tropical Wave in the Central Tropical Atlantic, centred approximately 1900 km east of the Southern Windward islands. 

At this time, Monday 10th, August, 2026, the system is disorganized with scattered patches of showers and thunderstorms. There is a low chance (10%) of development of a Tropical Cyclone over the next two (2) to seven (7) days. The  wave is moving westward at approximately 28  km/h and is expected to affect the Southern Windward islands from Thursday of this week. 

THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO WATCHES OR WARNINGS IN EFFECT FOR TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO.

The TTMS will issue an update to this statement at 2:00 pm tomorrow, Tuesday 11th August, 2026 or earlier, if there are significant changes in the forecast.
